STEM Generation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes every child deserves a good education. Across the U.S., they work tirelessly to help children in poor communities achieve more and realize their full potential. They help underfunded schools get materials, promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education among students, and strive to prepare the next generation of science thinkers, believers, and doers for success and excellence.

“Since our founding, we have raised and received nearly $200,000 worth of grant funding from organizations like Google and Investor’s Bank,” commented Eric Jing, “we have also raised and donated thousands of textbook and school equipment to the schools in need and have partnered with other large nonprofits like United Way to host events and further advance our mission.”

The organization also has a long list of awards and honors. One of which is the coveted Platinum Transparency Award from GuideStar® — the world’s largest source of nonprofit info. Less than 0.5% of nonprofits on GuideStar earn the Platinum Seal.

To earn this award, GuideStar extensively evaluated a wide variety of information: contact and leadership; in-depth financial information; qualitative information about goals, strategies, and capabilities; and quantitative information about results and progress toward its mission.

“In accordance with our long-held belief in being transparent about our work,” said Jing, “we will be adding even more legal and financial data to our website in the coming months. We hope to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to transparency and to give donors and funders meaningful data to evaluate our nonprofit performance.”

STEM Generation Inc. currently has two major programs. The eduSTEM™ program was established to help provide school equipment (like textbooks, microscopes, and laptops) to schools that need that but are struggling to afford them. The SciWorks™ program’s main goal was to host STEM workshops for children with other nonprofit but was paused in March 2020 due to COVID-19. A tentative resumption date of the program has been set for late this year.
