Experience Sharing
Choosing programs: I mainly focus on program in pharmacoeconomics, more specifically decision modeling. I also include several programs in pharmacoepidemiology / pharmaceutical service research. Frankly, UW and UMB are my top choices. Applying for PhD is very different from applying for MS program. The acceptence usually depends on if the PI has grant to support students. Even in school with committee, it also highly depends on professors research areas. You could be in the application cycle that professors you’re interested are retiring or leaving. Therefore it is important to network and attend conference.
Personal statement: Highly recommend reading starter kits from this website: https://writeivy.com . Comparing to the personal statement I wrote when apply for master programs, I had more materials to demonstrate my capabilities. I only need to connect all the dots to write a strong and compelling story to show I am the fit.
