Salmon is a wonderful and well-liked fish in the Pacific Northwest. Salmon is very beneficial for our health. Tuomisto (2020) and colleagues describe the benefits of salmon that contains Omega 3 fatty acids, and vitamin D. In their article Health effects of nutrients and environmental pollutants in Baltic herring and salmon: a quantitative benefit-risk assessment they find that even with the toxins in the Ocean that contain dioxins and methylmercury

The benefits of the salmon outweigh the risk of cardiovascular disease, mortality, depression, and cancer.

De Ross et al. (2021) discuss the benefits of farmed salmon: Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for cell structure and construction in our brain, retina, and sperm. Additionally, they provide energy for the body, and they assist in the formation of eicosanoids. (NIH, 2022)

“Eicosanoids are signaling molecules that have similar chemical structures to the fatty acids from which they are derived; they have wide-ranging functions in the body’s cardiovascular, pulmonary, immune, and endocrine systems” (NIH, 2022)
