in honor of Halloween (flashback)
I’ve dressed up as a musician for Halloween exactly once: In October 2010, after seeing a Jenny and Johnny show, I realized that the closest I can come to Actually Being Jenny Lewis is probably to dress as her for Halloween.

I went into this with a full awareness that absolutely no one would know who I was. Spoiler alert: This turned out to be correct. (Keep in mind that the parties I was attending were in White Plains, N.Y., and Bethel, Conn. And that it was 2010, not 2003.)

Anyway, I used this promo photo from the Rabbit Fur Coat era as inspiration (and miraculously found a “honey blonde mod” wig at the mall):

I know, the face is all wrong. (And my camera was really sadly on its way out by then.)
But there’s a cool part. A few days later, I came across a random fan-recorded concert video on YouTube. It’s Actual Jenny Lewis, also on Halloween 2010. A couple screencaps:
