So Here’s the Thing (re: Album of the Year Brouhaha)

“The music you enjoy” and “the music that most deserves a definitive award” are not synonymous. Just because it’s pleasing to your ears, that doesn’t mean it would go in that hypothetical 2014 time capsule if there’s only room for one album.1
