Wallflowers: pre-review photo preview

July 24 marked my first full-band Wallflowers show since 2005. They’re fully reloaded and ready to rock again, with a pumped-up, sometimes Clash-ified sound (not surprising, given that Mick Jones appears on their to-be-released new album, called Glad All Over.)

I might miss the pedal-steel-filled, Neko Case-backed Sad Cowboy Solo Jakob era a bit. But it’s magical to see them all back together on stage again, with a new Rock and Roll Hall of Famer drummer, to boot. As the first single, “Reboot The Mission,” notes, Jack Irons (said drummer) “jammed with the mighty Joe Strummer.” They sound, perhaps, better than they ever have.

Still working on the full review of the show. Obviously, it will be epic. In the meantime, here’s a slideshow of some of the photos I took. They’re only phone photos (with no flash), but you get the idea.

EDIT: Sorry, iOS people, the slideshow is Flash-based. You can view the set here.
