Charles Portis explains “you must pay for everything in this world one way and another. there is nothing free expect the grace of god. you cannot earn that or deserve it”. in my eyes i think Charles portis is trying to say if you want something out of life you have to go work for it.

stuff is not just going to get handed to you on a silver spoon or just be out there easy for you to go get it you work for what you want rather you want to or not and like Charles said “there is nothing free but the grace of god”. it isn’t easy to become a billionaire or a millionaire or to run your own business company ETC…. it can sometimes takes years and years or even more years to be successful for some people it might take months but regardless of how long it takes you still have to work to get that far in life. sometimes trying to get through life can be hard especially if you do not have the courage that day or any other day to either get up and go do something for yourself. that is when the praying starts to come and then you start to ask god to give you the strength and the courage to get up and make something happen.

“ there, but for the grace of God. go i” said an unknown writer. sometimes I might fail at what i want to do or what i do in life, but by the grace of God I some how manage to get up and give it another chance.i feel like without the grace of god ill be like a needle in a hay stack confused and not knowing which way to go about life. without me talking to my mother about my problems and going to church i feel as if i wouldn’t be able to be as happy and confident as i am now about god although i know there is still things that i need i want to know and learn about god but what i do know is god is good and his mercy endurance’s us forever just as well as his grace.

“my job is not to solve people’s problems or make them happy, but to help them see the grace operating in their lives” Eugene H. Peterson, The contemplative pastor: Returning to the Art of spiritual Direction. i feel like this quote means just be there for people when they need to talk you don’t always have to solve peoples problems but help them see the brighter side about thing make them feel more comfortable about their situations. be a shoulder that they can cry on.
