Job opportunities are often hard to come by for aspiring and jr. level designers/researchers. Every now and then I come across these opportunities so I thought I’d start a thread for this.

I’ll update this page for when I see new opportunities so bookmark it for your reference.

ShareBite (New York, US)

ShareBite has a UX internship design role. No requirement for a 4-year degree so it’s great for those transitioning into UX and are looking for that first job to break into the field. A portfolio is required for the application.

Applicantz (Remote — Portland, OR)

Applicantz has a client who is looking for a Jr. UX Designer. No degree required, but of course you need to demonstrate you got it! Job starts off remote but is expected to be full time in Portland, OR when they return to office.

Workiva (multiple locations across US)

Workiva has several Spring 2021 internship positions opened for UX Research, UI design, UX design, and UX Writing. The usual qualifications for internships apply, though they seem to have some flexibility as long as you have ‘related experience’. Take a look at their intern video to learn more about what internship at Workiva is like.

Pride Places (San Francisco, CA + Remote)

Pride Places, a startup in SF, has a Product Design internship opening. They are seeking designers with design-related degree or relative experience, and the must have’s are attention to details and communication skills. If you fit the bill and are interested, you know what to do….

Splunk (San Francisco/San Jose, CA)

Splunk — a data-to-everything platform company — has started their call for Product Design summer interns for summer 2021. It’s never too early to apply. You’ll need to be actively pursuing a related degree to be considered.

NeuroClarity (Remote/Berkeley, CA)

NeuroClarity — a Marketing Tech startup in biometric testing — has an unpaid internship for a UI/UX design position. I typically don’t love unpaid positions but it’s an opportunity for those who aren’t in schools or pursuring a degree atm, and are looking for professional experience to build an inroad to their first full-time job. Check it out and see for youself.

KPISOFT (Houston, TX)

KPISoft — an enterprise performance management system platform — has a UX/UI Designer Intern position open for a motivated student. No official education/degree requirement specified so it may be great for those making a transition into UX who are self-taught or have done related UX bootcamps.

Coveo (Montreal, Quebec, CA)

Coveo — an experience intelligence company — is looking for a UX Design Intern for conducting ux research, doing wireframe and mocks, and to participate in usability testings. Must be billingual (French and English) and studies in graphic design, UX, or design thinking in a “recognized institute”

Workwave (Holmdel, NJ)

Workwave — a Field Service Management Software company — has a Jr. UX Design position open (2+ yrs). Due to COVID-19 the position will start off remote but will be onsite (full or part-time) when their office reopens. More details at the link above.

Playstation (San Mateo, CA)

Playstation (i.e. Sony Interactive Entertainment) has a New Product Design Intern position for summer 2021, with a mix of UX research and design tasks for the right candidate. You must be pursuing a design degree or is within a year of your graduation date to be considered. A cover letter is also required

Societe Generale (London, UK)

The SG Markets Design team is looking to hire a Junior UX designer for an 11-month trainee contract. Remote seems like an option as well. Exciting stuff! Contact the job poster (Morgane) for details, or apply directly on their site now.

Catchafire (Volunteer opportunities, Remote)

If you’re transitioning into UX from another field, or is a fresh grad without a lot of industry experiences, Catchafire has a number of pro bono opportunities you can consider. Recent opportunities include: website usability Audit, online research, and a website design overhaul. Take advantage of these opportunities and grow your experience while doing some good. Win-win!

GoPurpose.com (Singapore)

GoPurpose — a sustainable solution platform provider in Singapore, is looking to hire UI/UX design intern. No hard requirement on education background stated so this looks to be a great opportunity for those without a traditional 4-year degree

Ansys (Canonsburg, PA)

If you had missed out on summer internship, the great news is that Fall internship’s coming around. Ansys, an engineering simulatoin company, is looking for Fall 2020 Intern, UX, and it seems they are open to remote (as shown in their locations in the JD). They seek a university student pursuing a degree in UX, but if you are confident about your ability don’t be shy. Make a good case for yourself and you never know where this goes….

Qred AB (Stockholm, SE)

Qred — a small business loan startup — is looking for a UX intern to work in their UX team performing tasks from researching to delivering visual assets. They seem to have flexible requirements on background and experiences so check it out to see if you’re a good fit

AEvice (Singapore, SG)

AEvice has a 3–6 month internship opening in their Singapore office for a UX Research Intern. They’re looking for university students pursuing undergrad degrees in design or related field. Those with great soft skills are prized and valued. Additional details and apply here.

Foundamental (Berlin, Germany)

Foundamental — investor in construction and mining technology — has a 3+ month UI/UX internship that starts this July (flexible). If you have a jaw-dropping portfolio (sigh…) and is self-starter who’s pursuing a degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) they’d love to hear from you

CDK Global (Austin, TX)

CDK Global is looking for a Design System UX intern to join their Design System team in building example products for illustrating to their teams how to leverage their design system. Neo4j (San Mateo, CA)

Neo4j has a summer 2020 UX design intern position. I love that they took their time to craft out what they expect from the intern, what projects are being considered, and very reasonable (and flexible) requirements. Definitely check it out!

Kiva.org (San Francisco, CA)

Kiva.org — a crowdfunding platform for social good — has a 6-month Design intern (Fall 2020) position posted. While they’re in SF they are also open to remote. Best of all, it doesn’t ask that you’re currently pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s so for those of you who are super talented but don’t have a degree in design, this could be that golden opportunity!

DocuSign (San Francisco, CA)

The summer internship window is quickly closing but DocuSign still has an opening for a summer UX design intern. Requirements are fairly basic and reasonable(currently pursuing a design-related degree + portfolio) so check this out!

BeiGene (Emeryville, CA)

BeiGene — a biotech company, has an UI intern position open for those pursuing their Master’s or PhDs to help with dashboard design and testing. If you’re interested you should take a look at their job description.

Base2 (Bellevue, WA)

Base2 Solutions is looking for an jr. level UX designer at their Bellevue office. Requirements are bachelors degree or equivalent, core UX skills, 1-yr of experience in UX, and good communication capabilities.

Clari (Sunnyvale, CA)

Clari — an company in the enterprise AI space — is looking for a UX/UI intern. Their job description has pretty reasonable + flexible qualification requirements so if you’re still looking, definitely check it out.

McAfee (Santa Clara, CA)

Summer internship opportunities are quickly winding down, but McAfee still has an opening for a UX design summer internship with their MVISION cloud team working on data viz and helping them with design library cleanup work. Interested? Check it out here.

Flexport (San Francisco, CA)

Flexport has a summer Product Design internship position for someone who’s interested in joining them to help develop the future of global trade. Check out the details and requirements here.

thredUp (Oakland, CA)

thredUp has a Product Design Summer Internship position. They say their internship positions are ideal for “… ambitious students or recent grads” but seem to leave room open for those without a design degree (but you should have a portfolio demonstrating your work)

Zillow Group (SF or SEA)

Zillow — voted one of the best places to work on Fortune — has internship positions for UX Design and UX Research in their SF or Seattle office. The usual internship requirements apply (i.e. must be pursuing a BA or MA degree in Interaction/UX Design, HCI or related field…)

Coupa Software (San Mateo, CA)

Coupa — a cloud platform for expense management — has a UX internship position opened. Preferences go to “Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelors degree” but it sounds like they’re open to looking at candidates from other backgrounds as well.

Lucid (Salt Lake City, UT)

Lucid — maker of the popular LucidChart — has a UX design summer internship position in their Salt Lake City location. They seem flexible on qualifications as long as you’re pursuing a degree right now, or that you’re a recent grad. Need to start in May 2020.

IBM Services (Taipei, Taiwan)

IBM Servies in Taiwan has an entry-level UX/UI designer position for fresh grads in their Taipei office. The role is specified as a campus hire but it could be open to those whose background and skillset are a match.

Panasonic (Denver, CO)

Panasonic USA has a 2020 UX Design Summer Internship position open. It’s the usual requirements, but they seem to have some flexibility in terms of the program you study. Worth checking out.

IBM (San Jose, CA)

IBM has an opening for a UX Design APPRENTICESHIP! Unlike internship, this position doesn’t require you to be enrolled in an accredited program so it’s a great opportunity for those who are making a mid-career transition, and is looking to acquire some work experience! Apply now!

Tidepool (Remote)

Tidepool has a Product Design Intern role open for winter or summer 2020. Even though this is listed as an internship, it didn’t specify education requirement so fair game to apply for those who don’t have a design or related degree. Read the description carefully for the application requirement.

Electronic Arts (Redwood City, CA)

Another internship position for 2020 summer. This time for a UX Research internship position at EA. Must be “slated to graduate in fall of 2020 or spring of 2021

Tableau (Seattle, WA)

If you love data and is looking for an internship opportunity, Tableau has the right opening for you. Check out the description for the UX Design intern role and see if it’s a good fit!

Nintendo of America (Redmond, WA)

Nintendo of America has a couple of positions for UX/UI internship in their location in Redmond, WA. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited program with GPA 3.0+ to qualify.

Agoda (Bangkok)

Agoda has an opening for a paid UI/UX designer internship. If you’re currently enrolled in a full-time degree program, and has a portfolio and excellent communication skill, you should really check it out! The position is based in Bangkok.

Alchemy — a P&G Company (Cincinnati, OH)

I don’t see many product design apprenticeship (and paid apprenticeship!) but here’s a 6-month opportunity with Alchemy. This is not only for recent grads, but for those making a career switch mid-career. Check this opportunity out!

Deserve (Menlo Park, CA)

Deserve — an analytics-based credit card start up- has an opening for a Jr. UX designer in Menlo Park. Check it out!

CloudCheckr (Rochester, NY)

CloudCheckr in Rochester, NY has an opening for a Jr UX/UI designer. No minimum year-of-experience specified (yay!) but a strong portfolio of recent work is the ticket to be considered.

Blume Global (Pleasanton, CA)

An opening for an entry level designer at Blume Global — a AI supply chain company. Not a lot of details on their career page, but looks like they’re looking for new college grads. Check it out.

Dave Ramsey Solutions (Franklin, Tennessee)

Dave Ramsey Solutions, the company behind the budget app Every Dollar, Financial Peace University and many other excellent programs, is looking to add a Product/UX designer to their creative team. Minimum year of experience is not specified, but a portfolio is required as part of their evaluation process.

Momentum Design Lab (San Mateo, CA or Manhattan, NY)

A design internship position recently opened up at Momentum Design Lab. A portfolio of work is required for consideration. HTML/CSS a plus.

Disney Streaming Services (San Francisco, CA)

DSS has a design internship opportunity for Spring 2020. Previous internship experience of school projects are required.

RobinHood (Menlo Park, CA)

RobinHood has an opening for a new grad as well as internship/co-op. No YOE specified — strong portfolio and passion are the keys.

Star Group (San Francisco, CA)

Two entry level jobs from Star Group. They are looking to hire a jr. designer as well as design intern. A good way to get your foot in the industry.

GrantPa (Greeley, CO)

GrantPa — a startup building a platform for artists- is looking for an (unpaid?) UX/UI intern. Learn more about what they’re looking for here.

Numina (Brooklyn, NY)

Numina has an opening for a paid UX Research internship in Brooklyn. Super exciting big data project to help governments design better city infrastructure!

MarketLogic (Berlin, Germany)

MaketLogic is hiring for a number of designers at different career levels, including working student product designers, junior, and mid-level designers.

TD Labs Accelerator (Waterloo, ON)

TD Labs Accelerator has a UX/UI Designer Intern opening in Waterloo, Ontario — a fast growing tech hub in Ontario, Canada. Check it out!

Xactly (Denver, CO)

Required 1+ yr of experience but can be substituted with equivalent course projects, Xactly’s looking for a jr. UX designer in their Denver office.

Amazon (Seattle)

Amazon just posted positions for a design intern as well as a design assistant position on amazon.jobs.

Designed.org (Volunteer)

HelloFresh (Boulder, CO)

HelloFresh is seeking a Jr. UX/UI designer to join their team in Boulder.

Volkswagen(Belmont, CA)
