Below is a screen Shot showing the Views of story
Medium: BUG: Publications List

Note the number of Views (78) is the same in top and bottom sections. But the percentages of Internal and External Views are different.
Top Int-17% Ext-83%,
Bot Int-67% Ext 33%.

78 Views at top AND bottom but different % breakdowns (Medium: BUG: Publications List)

What is going on?

I believe the software that counts Views is not working.
(done “on the fly” as and when needed to generate and display the graph).

To back up this assertion see below, the screenshot of the July 2018 graph where all views are indicated External.

If you look at the story there are three responses all are dated Jul 12 2018.

To make a response you need an account and read the story, so must have been Medium (Internal) viewers.

Graph of Views July 2018 -ALL External

It’s likely that most, if not all Views in July 2018 for this story were really Internal.

More Examples

This is not an isolated case. Most of the stories that I look at from this time show a difference and many from other times.

Screen Shot of “Barefoot
Screenshots of “Denial” and “The Killer Robot
Screenshot “Ten Things You Didn’t Know About Me

So the software that counts views (Internal or External) is not working.

Time to fix it I think.

I will be making a suggestion through the Mediun system in the next few days.

To Hammer Home the Point:
