I Wasn’t Diagnosed With ADHD Until I Was 38, But the Signs Were Always There.
I’d already cycled through numerous careers, 50+ addresses in six states, hundreds of hobbies, multiple boyfriends, several addictions, countless passions, and an equal number of unfinished projects.
After diagnosis, I tried taking medication for two days, hated it, and let thoughts of my ADHD fade into the background like all of my other discarded interests. I might have benefited from a few helpful coping strategies and probably even the proper medication.
Instead, I continued chasing shiny objects to satisfy my need for dopamine, moving from job to job, fleeing NYC to teach yoga in Hawaii, moving back to NYC, then upstate New York, Luxembourg, and finally to Portugal.
