A Soup & A Sister

My favorite soup is chicken enchilada soup. The first time I had chicken enchilada soup I was working at the ice cream bar at a restaurant. I somehow stumbled over into the soup area when my manager came over and asked me a couple words I’d never forget, “do you like chicken enchilada soup?” After answering that I had never tasted it he slowly uncovered the pot it was in and I immediately knew I had made a huge error in never having it.
The first whiff I got of the amazing chicken enchilada soup was somewhat spicy, but familiar at the same time, and the taste, the taste was like nothing I had ever experienced before. That night I took a small cup of chicken enchilada soup home with me so I could have my first taste on my favorite place, my couch.
As soon as I arrived home I grabbed the biggest spoon I could find, plopped down on my couch and got my first taste of this soup. To say it was good would be an understatement. Chicken enchilada soup was like nothing I’d ever tasted before. Every single ingredient in the soup was something I loved, and it had never occurred to me that all of these things would be so amazing when they were made into one. Before I knew it I had finished the small bowl of soup I’d brought home.

The next morning, I was eager to tell my parents and sister about the amazing new food item I had discovered and I figured they’d never tried it either. So, I did just that, I strolled into my sister’s room and gave her a lengthy talk about how amazing chicken enchilada soup was and how I couldn’t believe we had never tried it before. The next few words that came out of her mouth turned out to be even more shocking to me than the first moment I got a whiff of my new favorite soup, “I don’t like chicken enchilada soup, it tastes funny.” The next few hours were spent trying to convince my younger sister that chicken enchilada soup didn’t taste funny and that she must’ve tried a bad one because the one I had tried was simply heavenly. I was on a mission to convince her that this soup was among one of the best things I had ever had, if not the best. So, the following day I made it a point to bring her home some soup from my job.
When she got a whiff of the chicken enchilada soup I could tell she was slightly changing her mind on her previous feelings toward this amazing food. So, I sat there with her and watched her eat her entire bowl of chicken enchilada soup. When she was finished, she couldn’t stop stressing to me that the previous chicken enchilada soup that she had wasn’t as good as this one. When I asked her why she liked it so much more she ended up saying that she liked it for the same reasons I did. All of the ingredients put into it were a perfect blend of what we both liked. The texture of the soup was perfect and wasn’t too watery or too thick. We both agreed the smell was definitely what had reeled us in, forever fans of chicken enchilada soup.
