12 Million Downloads and 20,000 Shows
When we started Stitcher we did so because we ourselves were big podcasting and talk radio fans frustrated by the lack of simple to use solutions for listening to these shows and discovering new ones, particularly on mobile devices. Today, Stitcher is the leading podcast listening platform on Android and second only to Apple’s iTunes on iOS.
We’re excited to announce several significant milestones — 12 million downloads of the Stitcher Radio app and 20,000 shows on the Stitcher platform. As amazing as these milestones are for us as a team, we feel like we’re just getting started and are as excited as we’ve ever been about what we have in store for our listeners and partners this year and next. Much like when we redesigned our Android app this year with great success, we’re working on a big update to our popular iOS app and can’t wait to get it in your hands. We just launched offline listening for Android and have tons more in the works. Stay tuned.
As we reflect on how far we’ve come, there are two groups in particular we want to push the figurative pause button to thank.
First, to our listeners — those who’ve been with us since the early days as well as those who’ve just discovered us and made us part of their daily routine. As some of you may have noticed in our listener stats section in the app, the listener with the longest streak currently has been listening for nearly four years every single day! Incredible. Keep sending us your feedback and we promise to keep making Stitcher better.
Second, to our content partners — from the biggest to the smallest we love what you do and the impact it has every day on our listener’s lives. Our goal is to make your shows easily accessible and discoverable to increasingly bigger audiences on Stitcher. Your feedback as well has helped us greatly improve the platform and we look forward to working together in the coming months and years to have your news, your stories and your entertainment heard by as many people as possible.
