Stitcher Welcomes Gillian Jacobs and Diona Reasonover as They Launch Their New Show, “If/Then,” coming February 23
Los Angeles, CA — February 2, 2021 — Stitcher, the top content network and podcast listening service, is pleased to welcome Gillian Jacobs (NBC’s “Community,” Netflix’s “Love”) and Diona Reasonover (CBS’ “NCIS”) to their roster of talent as they host a new show, “If/Then.” Premiering February 23, “If/Then” finds Diona and Gillian exploring science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as STEM, by talking with some of the fields’ most fascinating and diverse personalities. A trailer is available HERE.
Each week, the endlessly curious duo take a break from their day jobs as actors to talk with astronauts, astrophysicists, science artists, mathematicians and other really smart people. They’re hoping to make conversations around research and scientific ideas feel more accessible.
“You don’t need to know anything about STEM to listen to If/Then,” Gillian says. “This show is for anyone that’s curious about the world.”
Gillian is an actor and director. When she was little, her mother worked at a natural history museum, which sparked a childhood obsession with dinosaurs and a curiosity with the natural world.
“Sometimes on the show, I’ll ask smart people silly or really basic questions. But that’s a good thing,” says Diona. “Because we want to have fun, break things down and get out of the weeds of technical jargon. We want people to be able to hear our show, and lean into what they’re hearing. We don’t want people to feel excluded from a conversation about cool ideas.”
Diona is an actor and TV writer. She’s best known for playing a scientist on the procedural drama ”NCIS.” She also grew up fascinated by outer space and mathematics after going to Space Camp at an actual NASA research center and attending math camp as a kid.
When Gillian and Diona first met in 2019, they were surprised how similarly they cherished their childhood passions. Growing up, they’d both loved learning about STEM. Now, they want to rediscover that curiosity as adults.
In 2015, Gillian directed “The Queen of Code,” a documentary about an early computer programmer named Grace Hopper. Now, she’s excited to work on another project that explores STEM.
“We’re letting our curiosity lead this show. So, that takes us from neurologists to adaptive fashion designers,” Gillian says. “The more that we learn about STEM, the more it changes how we see the world around us. The same can be said when you learn more about people too though. I love learning why people do what they do. In a way, we’re finding the human stories in science and tech.”
You can listen to the trailer and subscribe to “If/Then” on Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and all major podcast apps.
