We were at the Futurist Blockchain Conference this past Wednesday and Thursday so here’s our summary in place of this week’s Biweekly Update. At the conference, we got to meet a lot of Blockchain influencers and prominent businesses in the crypto space.

In addition to showcasing our app, we sat in some amazing talks! One of the most memorable was the Global Perspective on the Future of Blockchain panel. As part of the panel, there was The Hon. Wayne M Caines, the Minister of National Security of Bermuda, who explained the active role Bermuda played in adopting blockchain technology. The Hon. Wayne also talked much about the most recent laws that the Bermudian government passed to be more welcoming towards blockchain/cryptocurrency startups. He also expressed full support for encouraging new IT developments in schools. For instance, Shyft Network, a Toronto-Based KYC and AML system signed an agreement with the Bermudian Government, supporting blockchain educational programs through grants for university training and blockchain-based startups. In addition, Binance also partnered with the Bermudian Government to provide financial support for universities for Blockchain Education, in addition to funding support for blockchain-related startups. The Bermudian government being so open new technology has allowed the country to become a cryptocurrency and blockchain hub.
Similarly, in Jamaica, it was announced recently that cryptocurrencies would be on the Jamaican Stock Exchange. This is a massive step forward in the mass adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain.
Overall, The Hon. Wayne expressed extreme openness to the government in adopting blockchain technology. It was extremely eye-opening to see other countries embracing the latest tech. We very much look forward to the future developments of these countries.
