STACK’s first 24-hour hackathon, Stackathon, was not only a great way for the STACK & STK teams to connect with the local Toronto tech and blockchain community, but it was also intended to be a learning experience for the participants whether they were new or experienced in blockchain. Workshops and mini-events were planned in a way for new blockchain developers to ramp up fast enough to be able to build a Dapp Prototype by the end of the hackathon.

Community:
- Women in Fintech: This month’s article was released yesterday on National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Day in Canada. It marked the 29th anniversary of the attack at École Polytechnique and to pay tribute to the 14 women that lost their lives and all the victims that were affected, we dedicated the article to them. We hold this article very close to our hearts not only because of the tragic event but our Blockchain Developer, Nat Chin looks up to the featured woman and attended the referenced school in the blog.
- CryptoCamp Recap: The STK team attended CryptoCamp held at Deloitte last week where we attended insightful panels and presented. Lead Developer, Thomas Lui, presented the STK Crypto Beta, completed an STK to CAD conversion and a real time transaction using Samsung Pay.
- Ethereum Coding, Updates and Demos: Our team attended the monthly local Ethereum meetup. It was great meeting with the local ethereum community members regarding research updates, node deployment and project demos
- Cryptocurrency and it’s Social Impact: STK will be attending Cryptocurrency and it’s Social Impact by Fintech Community on December 12. The panel will provide their perspectives on questions like “has the proliferation of digital currencies created more good than bad?” and “what opportunities does this technology provide to promote social change?” We’re curious to hear their thoughts and experiences.
