Long live the streak.

1992–2004. 12 years. 151 games in a row.

The De La Salle High School Spartans had possession of the longest winning streak in sports history. The Spartan’s football team has dominated California in the sport for as long as anyone can remember.

The winning streak came to an end on September 4, 2004. The Spartans took on Bellevue High School from Washington and were sadly defeated, 39–20.

If this streak did not already seem impressive enough, 151 took over the previous record of a 72 game winning streak set in 1997. The Spartans more than doubled it.

In 2014, the film, When the Game Stands Tall, was released to document the legacy of the 151 game streak. It displays the story of the team as a whole, the players, and the coaches, including Head Coach Bob Ladouceur, as their historic steak comes to an end.

The De La Salle Spartans continue to dominant high school football in California. Year after year, they appear in the state championship game and have won the title six times in the past ten years.
