The United States Women’s National Team has been a dominant force in the world of soccer, and that is unlikely to change in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup will be kicking off this June. Hosted by France, there will be a total of 24 teams competing in the tournament.

With only a few countries making their first ever appearance and several more having qualified every tournament, a hierarchy has began to establish in the Women’s World Cup. At the top of this hierarchy is the United Sates Women’s National Team, who is firm favorite to retain their championship title that they won in the last World Cup after their 5–2 victory over Japan.

Of the 7 Women’s World Cup tournaments that have been held, the U.S. Women’s National Team has medaled in every one and has taken home the championship trophy 3 times. They have proven their dominance on other stages as well, having medaled in the Olympic Games 6 different times, 4 of which they won the gold.

The USWNT went into the 2015 World Cup with a roster loaded with all stars including Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, and their top player Julie Ertz. Going into the 2019 tournament, they have retained all of their key players who are also at the top of their game.

There are certainly a number or great teams participating in the tournament which will make it a great show to watch. Though an underdog victory is always a possibility, even the USWNT’s main competitors, France, England and Germany, will unlikely keep them from bringing home their fourth championship.
