Childhood sports movies can serve as inspirational sources to young children or fond memories of childhood times to adults. Some of the most classic sports movies belong to the subject of baseball. Here are 5 classic and must-see baseball movies:

The Perfect Game (2009)

Maybe one of the most underrated movies on the sport, The Perfect Game tells the story of an aspiring group of young impoverished boys in Mexico. Together, they transform an old church yard into their own baseball field with the hopes of making it to the Little League. A story of fighting against the odds, the young team surprises all makes it to the Little League World Series in America where their dreams come true.

Fever Pitch (2005)

In this romantic comedy, a relationship buds between a young school teacher and a businesswoman who’s love blossoms despite not sharing similar interests. All goes well until the major league baseball season begins, and Ben’s Red Sox obsession is revealed.

The Rookie (2002)

Based on a true story, The Rookie is an inspirational movie about going after the impossible. A high school baseball exemplifies to his students that it is never too late to chase their dreams. After his team wins their championship, Coach Jim has to keep up his end of the deal in trying out for the major leagues.

Rookie of the Year (1993)

Henry Rowengartner, a middle school baseball player, breaks his arm while playing baseball during recess. When Henry gets out of his cast, he is able to throw a baseball at a pro level speed, and this leads to Henry being recruited by the Chicago Cubs in the journey to the Pennett. During his time with the Cubs, he learns family values, the competitive spirit, and what it truly means to be a friend and son.

The Sandlot (1993)

Scotty Smalls moves to a new neighborhood and makes new friends with a group of boys who like to play baseball. The young boys embark on a series of wild adventures and are on a mission to retrieve the lost valuable baseball that Smalls stole from his stepdad.
