After a busy weekend in Sacramento, the Saint Mary’s Volleyball team extend their win streak to 9 consecutive victories.

The No. 17 Saint Mary’s Beach Volleyball team had a successful weekend after winning all 3 of their matches in Sacramento. On Friday, they went up against San Jose State and San Francisco State, winning both matches with a sweep over San Francisco. The Gaels continued their dominance on Saturday with a sweeping victory over Sacramento State as well.

Saint Marys’ sweep over the San Francisco Dons resulted in only 1 of 5 pairs playing into a 3rd set, with the other 4 pairs winning in just 2 sets. Their victory over the San Jose State Spartans came more narrowly, winning 3–2.

The Gaels displayed their talent again on the court as their victory over the Sacramento State Hornets came with only one pair, Sienna Young and Alexsa Parker (21–13, 23–21, 15–6), having to play a 3rd set. The other 4 pairs, Lindsey Knudsen and Sarah Chase (21–10, 21–12), Emily Bible and Lindsey Calvin (21–14, 21–14), Jennifer Laird and Morgan Kendrick (24–22, 21–11), and Chandler Cowell and Selbie Christensen (21–13, 21–9) each finished in just two sets.

The SMC Beach Volleyball Team continues to be lead by their star seniors Emily Bible, Lindsey Calvin, Lindsey Knudsen and Sarah Chase. In each of their 3 matches this last weekend, both pairs of players won in just 2 sets.

“I think the last two days were a testament to how focused we’ve been in practice the past few weeks with our head coach away due to a family emergency,” Bible said. “ It was amazing to finally have him back to coach our matches and I think that excitement showed in our play. All courts executed well in different instances and our discipline paid off in the end.”

Bible’s teammate Knudsen agreed.

“This weekend had a lot of great moments for our team,” Knudsen said. “ We showed our depth against San Jose after coming back from an 0–2 deficit to win the duel 3–2. Its exciting that any court can come through for our team on any given day.”
