Moraga, Calif. — As a part of the St.Mary’s College of California community a lot of us are large supporters of our men’s basketball team, but how much do we really even know about our players on the team?

The men’s basketball team this season has had a remarkable season this year and has gotten farther than they did last season when lost to their biggest opponent, Gonzaga. Looking at the team’s stats you can just see how well they have done. They have had 34 games this season, out of those games they have 22 wins and 11 loses.

In the entire season, they have scored 2,463 points and with an average 72.1 points in a game. A Teammate that has had a big part of their momentous season is, Jordan Ford. Being fans of the team, we can see how much of an asset and great player he is for the team.

However, how much do we really know about Ford and his journey with basketball? Jordan Ford was always active as a child, and got into the sport of basketball at the age of 4 through his father and hasn’t stopped since. From the ages of 4–8, he played in a few recreational leagues in his hometown of Sacramento.

From the age of 8–17, he played more professional basketball for the AAU on one of the biggest Nike sponsored teams. The AAU stands for the Amateur Athletic Union. Being part of this team he was able to travel, play against other teams across the country, and received college scouts attention that lead him here to Saint Mary’s. However at the same time, he played for AAU, Ford played for his high school team as well.

Later being asked about how he felt about how he and his teammates played this season, says, “ I felt I played very well this season and it felt great to beat the number 1 team in the country, Gonzaga.” said Ford

Looking at his statistics for this season proves that he did, in fact, play remarkable this season. Out all the players on the team this entire season, collected the most points, with the amount of 716. Also has an average of 21.1 points per game and playing an average of 36.1 minutes per game.

He went on to talk about how he and his team played as a whole, says, “ We really came together as a unit and everyone really excelled.” said Ford
