From day one, it’s been our mission to help creative teams work better together on their projects. But in our quest to make Chipmunk the go-to tool for creatives to store and organize their project content, we recognized that tools specifically for collaboratively creating this content are few and far between—and the ones we tried didn’t work the way we needed them to.

With this in mind, we decided to expand Chipmunk’s toolset to take on this role. We’re excited to announce Draft Workflow, a powerful new tool that allows you to upload new assets (or revisions to existing assets) as unpublished works in progress called Drafts.

Drafts are the building blocks of well-produced content. They preserve the creative process, completely intact, making it easier to pinpoint opportunities for improvement, gather feedback, and reflect on what worked in the past — and what didn’t. And with Draft Workflow, Drafts are more than snapshots of working content. They become the moving pieces of projects and can be assigned to specific team members, commented on, approved as ready for production projects, or rejected outright.

Drafts are at the heart of Chipmunk’s new Draft Workflow, saving teams time and energy.

Use this powerful tool for iterating on a design to get it just right, but without losing the story of how you got there in the process. You can even use Drafts to request new content from members of your team. Upload a sketch, reference material, or just a brief description of your desired asset and assign it to the person you want to do the work. When they upload their work in progress, you’ll be notified and can approve, reject, or continue to iterate on the uploaded asset.

With Draft Workflow and Drafts, Chipmunk is making it even easier for creative teams to streamline their workflow and get more done while having complete control over the creation of their content.

In the same vein as seamless collaboration and visibility, we have also enriched Chipmunk with an activity feed, the ability to watch content and get notified as it changes, and the ability to compare changes made to an asset over its lifetime:

  • View a feed showing all activity for your team on the Home tab. This activity includes new uploads, updates to asset and collection information, as well as archiving, restoring, and assignment actions. Click on an asset for an individual activity feed for that specific piece of content.
  • Assets and collections you create or edit (as well as Drafts assigned to you) are automatically added to your watched content feed. You can watch or unwatch assets at any time to control the activity you see in My feed on the Home tab.
  • If a new revision has been uploaded to an asset, you can select a previous revision in the asset’s history to preview it and compare it to the current one.

We’ve also added or improved upon some existing features, making it easier than ever to get your content into Chipmunk and then find and organize it once it’s there:

  • Drag and drop multiple files into Chipmunk at once to upload them in no time.
  • Click in the search bar or use hotkey “/” to search your entire team for collections, assets, and revisions (including file names and comments).
  • Organize and search for collections and assets using tags.

With these new features, our goal continues to be making managing your creative content simple and empowering your to get more done. We’re excited to continue enhancing Chipmunk and thank you for joining us on this journey!
