Need some trading ideas to get the week started? We’ve got you covered! This is our weekly issues July 24 — July 28 where we go over macro economics, economic calendar, upcoming earnings and list a few trade ideas.

Market

The US market saw Mr. Volatility appear and this week looks to continue the sentiment. Stock scanners are showing 200 oversold and 900 overbought tickers.

Favorite ETFs

$SPY — This NASDAQ 100 ETF hit overbought last week. Profit taking wouldn’t be surprising this week.

$USO — This oil ETF is stuck in a downward price channel. Last week the price hit the resistance line and fell.

$GLD — This gold ETF has been bouncing in July. This week is expected to continue being gold bullish.

$TLT — 20-year US treasuries look appealing when stock volatility appears.

Economic Calendar

Earnings Calendar

Another hot week of earnings releases (ER) is expected this week. Enjoy the many targets available for the hunt 😀

$ABBV — Abbvie Inc.

Company ER is 7/28/17 with a history of beats. Last week the ticker hit the power zone and history has shown fast rises can occur.

Catalyst — Pre-ER

Trade — BUY $75.00 July 28, 2017 Calls

$AMZN — Amazon.com Inc.

$AMZN ER is 7/27/17. Analysts expect the biggest quarterly profit in the company’s history. Chart analysis shows entry into overbought territory last week so look for power zone indicators.

Catalyst — Pre-ER

Trade — BUY $1,120.00 July 28, 2017 Calls

$EA — Electronic Arts Inc.

$EA has its ER 7/27 and generally beats expectations. Last ER the company reported a profit miss and the stock value jumped 😜. Three bottoms have formed since last ER and the stock price has been bouncing since early July.

Catalyst — Pre-ER

Trade — BUY $112.00 July 28, 2017 Calls

$FB — Facebook, Inc.

Company ER is 7/26/17. Profit keeps rising quarter over quarter. Chart analysis shows entry into overbought territory last week. With a volatile week expected a straddle strategy may net some profit with this ticker before ER.

Catalyst — Pre-ER

Trade — BUY $160.00 July 28, 2017 Puts

$HAL — Halliburton Co.

$HAL has its ER 7/24/17 and is expected to beat. Volatility appears to be setting in for the ticker with a recent resistance of $46.50. An ER beat will need to surge past this resistance to make me bullish.

Catalyst — Post-ER

Trade — BUY $44.00 7/28/17 Puts

UPS — United Parcel Service, Inc.

Company ER is 7/27/17. The ticker broke out early June after a pretty volatile few prior months. Analysts are for another beat.

Catalyst — Pre-ER

Trade — BUY $113.00 July 28, 2017 Calls

Happy trading!
