NEW: The Verissimus Graphic Novel
Our new book about the life and Stoicism of Marcus Aurelius is finally here!
We’re delighted to announce that our new graphic novel, Verissimus: The Stoic Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius, is now available for preorder, in both ebook and hardback formats. It can be a clever move to order in advance from certain stores, e.g., Amazon (in some regions) will give you their pre-order price guarantee (see terms), which means the earlier you buy your copy the more chance you have of getting the best possible price.
“Donald Robertson is one of my favorite writers about Stoicism.” — Ryan Holiday, #1 New York Times bestselling author and founder of The Daily Stoic
Verissimus is a full colour, 270 page, sweeping historical epic about the life and philosophy of Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, published by St. Martin’s Press. After writing How to Think Like a Roman Emperor, I began working on the script with award-winning illustrator Zé Nuno Fraga. and comic-book editor Kasey Pierce. This is the product of decades of historical and philosophical research, and two and a half years of writing, editing, and illustrating. Think 300 meets Logicomix, or Gladiator but a lot more faithful to history and with a lot more philosophy! Please feel free to share the link with your friends on social media.
“A superb graphic novel that provides stunning insights into one of the most interesting figures of antiquity, as well as into the philosophy that guided him throughout his life.” — Massimo Pigliucci, author of How to Be a Stoic
How do I order my copy?
The publication date is June 2022. You can pre-order a copy now from most bookshops, online or in person, by giving them the title or (even better) the ISBN 1250270952. You’ll find links to several online bookstore listings on our sales page, including Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
“Verissimus represents the vanguard of the next phase of the ongoing Stoic renaissance.” — William B. Irvine, author of A Guide to the Good Life
We already have some translations planned, including Brazilian Portuguese, so stay tuned for more details of editions in other languages. If you want to find out more about the book, sign up for the Verissimus freebies bundle on Teachable, or read my Medium article How I wrote Verissimus.
“Whether you’re new to Marcus Aurelius or already know him as a friend and guide, this graphic novel will open your eyes… Author and artist have found… a brilliant combination of entertainment and education.” — Robin Waterfield, translator of Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus
Hope you enjoy the book, thanks for your support, as always, and please feel free to get in touch if you have any feedback or questions.
