In recent years, more and more young people have shared their concerns and consciousness in acting immediately against the problem of climate change. Now it’s time to overcome this challenge and put the spotlight on local organizations and associations, projects, and individuals, in order to work all together for solving this issue.

“There is no Planet B” was an Erasmus project with the main goal of promoting and raising awareness of climate change and the global warming crisis, through education.

The Youth Exchange took place in Kaunas, Lithuania, in May. It was coordinated by our partner We Go and it involved more than 30 participants from the hosting country, Italy, Iceland, Spain, Turkey, and Croatia.

For Rita, Gioia, Daniela, Raffaele, and Pie, it was a unique opportunity for exchanging information, for sharing knowledge and learning from others, from their unique perspectives. A wonderful chance to meet new people and new friends, creating networking and lifelong relationships.

Here are some thoughts on what the experience represented for some of our participants.

“Youth Exchanges are extraordinary opportunities to grow! During this project, I faced several issues through which I feel grown up. I improved my skills and competencies, I learned to be more open-minded. If there is a problem, there is always a solution, what matters is sharing it with people around you! Each of our opinions, in this kind of project, is important and the participation counts. This means be not afraid in making mistakes and in communicating, even if your English is not perfect. Just find your way! All Youth Exchanges are different and for sure they’ve represented the best experience of my life!” Rita said.

“This exchange was incredible, I learned something about the environment in other countries, I met different people and different cultures, I made new friends, improving my English and my soft skills. Thanks to an amazing group of beautiful people, we had many unforgettable moments!” Gioia said.

Raffaele believes that it’s time to recognize the crisis generated by climate change and global warming as the biggest problem and challenge of our day. Their effects are getting worse over time with a huge impact on our life. We need appropriate and collective measures at the European and international levels, through better coordination and cooperation among countries, given a quick and sustainable recovery and preserving this world for future generations.

At the same time, according to him, we have to raise awareness of our single role as individuals in society, starting from our small daily actions, providing important points of reflection and personal contribution to these common issues. We must try new models, exchange ideas and best practices, question ourselves, involve young people through education and different patterns of thinking, and be more innovative and responsible. A change is possible only thanks to common efforts, synergies and the active collaboration of everycountry and member of society, to promote and achieve real and durable forms of sustainable development over time.

These are kinds of projects for people who truly believe in these ideas and ideals, for people who are ready to embark on a new unrepeatable journey, making memories that will last a lifetime.
