Airline Dog Travel — 4 Ways to Travel by Air

Did you know that dogs can travel on a commercial airline in one of 4 ways? Here is a short list (with pictures!).

1. Checked Baggage Cabin

Dogs travelling in the cabin must fly with an adult passenger and travel in an airline compliant carrier stowed under the seat. Remember however that some airlines have their own policies, so always check with the airline you’re travelling with!

2. Checked Baggage Cargo

Dogs travelling with a passanger that are not permitted in the cabin can be transported as checked baggage in the cargo hold.

3. Manifest Cargo

Unaccompanied or very large dogs will travel as manifest cargo in the hold.

4. Service or comfort animals
