Today I’m not gonna talk about any iconic footballer, not any all-time great, not a promising youngster but someone who reflects the real meaning of life.Today I’m gonna talk about a man who shut the critics in his own fanbase and made him all his fans, the ever versatile, ever willing to put his body on the line for the badge of his boyhood club,a passionate Madridista like many Real Madrid fans around the world, Lucas Vázquez Iglesias .

A 29 year old boy who with his performances over this season filling in as RW when All our wingers were going through a complete lull and were injured stepped up, filled Carvajal’s position and not for once let us feel one of Europe’s top right back’s absence doing it duly on both sides of the pitch with great crossing runs stepovers setting up play and making important tackles interceptions remaining solid defensively. The ultimate story of a man who was counted out by all but with Zidane’s belief he triumphed and turned everyone into his praisers and trust me when I say this I was one of those who would troll him calling him Goatquez but for his performances this season he truly is one.

Real Madrid were blessed to have a player with so much pedigree as a squad player one of the greatest utility players I have ever witnessed and him playing for the badge it was always visible what it meant to him every single minute he got to play for Real Madrid.

A key part of our UCL 3-peat,a mentality giant who in a UCL final shootout went with calmness like no other spinning the ball as if he’s playing some elementary level game .

Stepping up and delivering in times of pressure is what Lucas Vázquez is.

His stats and achievements for Real Madrid :

240 Games Played

26 Goals

54 Assists

3 Uefa Champions Leagues

2 La Ligas

2 Spanish Supercups

2 Uefa Supercups

3 Fifa Club World Cups

Can have two more Trophies(Liga + UCL) added to the tally by the season end

Not bad for a backup squad player over 6 years right ?

The Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury he suffered in El Clasico after a clash with Busquets ensured that he will no longer be playing this season. As per all the reports, he’s on his way to leave Real Madrid after the season.El Clasico was the last time we might have seen him don the royal white of Real Madrid and what better way to end it with a win having an assist.

This was nothing but a Thanksgiving post to one of the most underrated, most trolled but yet a key player of a club of Real Madrid’s stature .

Take care of yourself and have great seasons ahead wherever you go Lucas Vázquez, I have never felt so proud to have been proved wrong on judging a player, keep going lad ,we will miss you a lot in times of desperation.

Lucas Vazquez
