Lesly graduated from West Ottawa High School in 2018 and is studying at Ferris State University.

She started dreaming of a college education after attending Hope College’s Upward Bound where she started getting involved and started speaking up for herself and asking for help.

Lesly said she learned she is “unique and strong like no other.”

She dreams of having a college education because she wants to “help her family stop having money problems.”

Lesly credits her parents, teachers, tutors, and individuals from programs with pushing her to achieve, “When I struggled with something, they always had my back.”

While in high school, Lesly participated in the Careerline Tech Center’s dental program and took advantage of internships where she began to fall in love with the dental profession because it can give her the opportunity to help people and, as she says, “bring more healthy smiles to the community.” Staff members at the CTC were so impressed that they nominated Lesly for a H/Z Promise Scholarship so that she can continue her studies in Dental Hygiene.
