Micah
A 2017 graduate of Zeeland East High School, Micah is majoring in Livestock Industries at Michigan State University. She plans to have career in the agriculture or veterinary science.
Counselors at her high school and the Careerline Tech Center recommended Micah to the H/Z Promise because of her resiliency, work ethic and leadership skills. Micah’s leadership skills became apparent when, during her junior year of high school, she began stepping out of her comfort zone and was elected President of the CTC’s Future Farmers of America program and then became the FFA’s Region V Vice President.
Micah says:
“Ever since I was a young girl, my family always pushed for me to attend college, but I didn’t actually start believing that I could attend my dream school (MSU), until the beginning of my junior year. I decided at the start of my junior year, that I was going to work as hard as I could to get the grades needed for MSU.”
Micah’s goals include becoming “the greatest version of me possible.” To Micah, this means “cultivating myself into a better leader, student, friend, daughter and the list goes on and on.”
What did receiving the H/Z Promise Scholarship mean to Micah?
“The scholarship represents far more than just money. For me it represents encouragement, hope, and opportunity for a better tomorrow. I give my deepest appreciation to the donors, the Foundation, and everyone that helped make this scholarship available. I will forever be in awe of the generosity and support that I’ve received.”
Micah’s Advice for high school students:
“Always go above and beyond what is expected of you, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t accomplish your goal. If you are pursuing an educational goal that you’re truly passionate about, then eventually you’ll achieve it with hard work and dedication.”
