This is for every human being out there.

We believe that there is nothing more powerful than communication. Our goal is to foster empathy, connectivity and empowerment through storytelling. We want to bridge gaps between individuals and communities worldwide by giving everyone, everywhere a voice.

SFH is an international participatory media where remarkable reporting, creative labs and community building intersect. We lead public discussions on major world issues through our online platform, we document these discussions in 200+ page color publications, and we host creative and community-building events to bring people together.

SFH’s 5-year plan is to establish 25 sharing hubs in 25 major capitals worldwide to foster international connectivity through an ongoing dialogue about issues that matter to all of us.

Our Story.

SFH INTERNATIONAL REACH (2016)

In 2012, SFH founder Carine Valleau experimented with the idea of a politically neutral, open discussion platform by leading a pilot project on education in Quebec. The result was outstanding, bringing together 300 participants with diverse opinions and backgrounds, as well as media personalities, public figures, artists, and politicians from Quebec and Canada.

Following the success of this pilot project, SFH was officially born in the fall of 2015 as a participatory media dedicated to leading public discussions on major social and world issues.

Its first project focused on the refugee crisis, and brought together participants from 20 countries, including refugees and humanitarian associations. In the fall of 2016, SFH led a public discussion on healthcare which engaged hundreds of participants from 35 countries. It also included the perspectives of thirty medical students in an original study comparing healthcare systems worldwide.

SFH has the support of the Mayor of Montreal, Radio Canada, the McCord Museum, The Musée des Beaux Arts, The Canadian Red Cross, Doctors without Borders, and Amnesty International, as well as research chairs, representatives of ministries, deputies, city councillors, and many companies, associations and startups around the world. In London, SFH was welcomed by the Frontline Club, London School of Economics and City University departments of communications and journalism, as well as PEN international, and has attracted the interest of leading journalists and editorial committees such as The Guardian and Al Jazeera.

In 2 years, with hard work and a team of 23 dedicated individuals, we have reached hundreds of people in 50+ countries across 5 continents.
