I come from a land of beauty and mystery. I come from a land where everybody speaks Farsi — or Persian, if you prefer — because it is the most beautiful thing I’ve heard so far. I come from a land where we use the words habibi, amor, nostalgie and pristine in the same conversation. I come from a land where we speak in a delectable British accent. I come from a land where nobody asks where I come from — we all belong. I come from a land where Fitzgerald, Rowling and Pagnol are icons; literature is mandatory and introspection is an art. I come from a land where black is the colour of life, reflection and beauty. I come from a land, foreign — yes you were perfectly right, I don’t look like I’m from here.
