The appeal of Vincent Van Gogh shows no signs of fading. We remain fascinated by an artistic temperament that was at once flawed, vulnerable and human, and yet also highly-charged, magnificent even. We respond to him because he kept on painting, his canvases getting brighter and brighter as his days got darker.
