Upgrading to StorX Mainnet: A Step-by-Step Guide for Node Operators

As the StorX Network transitions to its mainnet, all storage node operators must upgrade their nodes to ensure continued participation and eligibility for rewards. This upgrade is not just a technical necessity but a significant milestone in the evolution of the StorX ecosystem. Below, we provide a comprehensive guide on seamlessly upgrading your nodes, including critical timelines, step-by-step instructions, and resources for support.

Upgrade Timelines

To ensure a smooth transition, the upgrade process is divided into distinct phases:

1. Active Nodes Upgrade Period (September 1, 2024 — October 15, 2024):
   Active storage nodes can start upgrading to the mainnet during this period. Operators can continue with their existing hardware, upgrade their node hardware, or migrate to a new ISP. Nodes meeting the specified hardware requirements will be eligible for storage rewards post-upgrade.
2. Inactive Nodes Upgrade Period (October 16, 2024 — October 31, 2024):
   Inactive nodes wishing to join the mainnet can begin their upgrade in this timeframe. The same options for hardware continuation, upgrades, or ISP migration apply.
3. Post-Upgrade Rewards:
   After the upgrade, storage nodes will be automatically added to the mainnet. Eligible nodes will start generating rewards one month after the upgrade is completed.
4. Deadline and Staking Rules:

• After the upgrade deadlines, nodes that have not upgraded will only be able to join the mainnet if they resign, claim their staking amount, and then restake with the revised staking amount.
• From September 1, 2024, storage nodes that do not upgrade or do not wish to join the mainnet can opt to resign and claim their staking amount. The unstaking process will take 7 days until September 30, 2024, after which the unstaking notice period will extend to one month.
• Old nodes will cease to receive storage rewards starting September 1, 2024.

Upgrade Process

To upgrade your node to the mainnet, follow the steps below. Ensure you have access to the necessary information, including your server access credentials, Wallet ID, and email address.

1. Bootstrap Script (60 Minutes):
   Run the bootstrap script provided in the upgrade instructions. This script will prepare your node for the upgrade.
2. Start Your Node (120–180 Minutes):
   After completing the bootstrap process, start your node. This process may take up to three hours.
