A humble Woman.
By Jasky Singh

A humble Woman always had the desire to be a painter since young. She created many paintings when she was a little girl, and continued to paint through her school and college years. Her work was exquisite and featured on the walls of her school till this day.

But once she got a job, got married, and had kids. Painting took a backseat in her life.

She worked hard at her job each day. And once she returned, she took care of her home, her kids and her husband. But everyday, she lay in bed at night dreaming of beautiful paintings she could see herself create.

Such a foolish move it would be if she quit her work to pursue this desire, she thought. So she continued this way through a majority of her life, dreams of her beautiful paintings becoming her escape. The ulterior reality she played out in her mind where she lived the life of a successful painter.

Her desire, however, grew day by day, until one day, when she was quite old, it became all too much to resist. She told her husband, with great reservation, that she would quit her work and paint for her remaining years.

Her husband, to her surprise, supported her desire as he himself had suppressed his passions for many years. He said he would take on an extra shift to look after them financially.

The woman was unable to control her excitement, as she woke the next morning, goosebumps lined her skin. She began setting up her canvas and paints with the years of accumulated dreams rushing through her mind that she itched to paint.

She suddenly had a heart attack and died on the spot. Paintbrush in her hand, and a single line of red paint left on the canvas as she fell. It would be the last painting she would ever paint.

Be afraid of a life you never lived, because death is a given.
