If you are looking for a fast paced journey told like a documentary in a book and experience not just a different form of writing but music, fashion, life of a rock star sans the visuals and the large audio blaring in your ears, Daisy Jones & The Six is just for you!

I generally love reading a good book during travel / short break away from the city because somehow the pace is so slow ad when you are one with nature, I tend to automatically steer away from electronics! Call in Nature’s Miracle!! Or my knowing that the time will be short there!! The simple gush of the wind, the vibe of the town that makes it slow, the sound of the raindrops, the large spaces which suddenly create a vacuum makes me want to read a lot more than usual!!

Alright, let’s dive into the world of rock ’n’ roll!!

“Daisy Jones & The Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid is a captivating tale set in the vibrant 1970s music scene. The story is told through a series of fictional interviews, giving it a unique and engaging format. It’s like reading a behind-the-scenes documentary about a rock band that never actually existed, but feels so real that you’ll find yourself searching for their music online!

Our story begins with Daisy Jones, a young, beautiful, and wild girl growing up in Los Angeles. Daisy is a free spirit, sneaking out of her house at a young age to explore the Sunset Strip. She quickly becomes a fixture in the LA music scene, known for her stunning looks and her even more stunning voice. Daisy is a force of nature, and everyone who meets her is drawn to her like a moth to a flame.

Meanwhile, in Pittsburgh, two brothers, Billy and Graham Dunne, are also making their way into the music world. They form a band called The Six, which includes drummer Warren Rhodes, bassist Pete Loving, Pete’s brother and rhythm guitarist Eddie Loving, and keyboardist Karen Karen. The band quickly gains a following, and they land a record deal. Billy, the band’s lead, falls in love with a woman named Camila Martinez, and they get married just before the band goes on tour.

As The Six’s popularity grows, their producer, Teddy Price, suggests bringing Daisy Jones on board to collaborate on a song called “Honeycomb.” The duet is a massive hit, and Daisy ends up joining the band as their opening act on tour. The chemistry between Daisy and Billy is electric, both on and off the stage. They start writing songs together, and their creative partnership leads to the band’s most successful album, “Aurora.”

But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Daisy’s wild lifestyle and substance abuse issues cause tension within the band. Billy, who is struggling with his own demons, finds himself drawn to Daisy in ways that threaten his marriage to Camila. The band’s internal conflicts come to a head, and despite their success, they eventually break up.

The story is filled with drama, love, heartbreak, and the intoxicating allure of rock ’n’ roll. It’s a rollercoaster ride that will leave you feeling like you’ve just lived through the rise and fall of a legendary band.

So, there you have it! A fun and playful summary of “Daisy Jones & The Six.” If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend picking it up. It’s a wild ride you won’t want to miss!

A must have holiday read!!

Love & Light ❤
