Amsterdam is a hub for startups, freelancers and creatives alike who flock to the city to be amidst the canals and the rest of Europe. As a result this beautiful city is littered with great cafes that are remote-worker friendly/perfect for getting some outside of office or apartment inspiration flowing, providing excellent coffee and reliable internet (I know… It almost sounds too good to be true).

And because here at Story of AMS we’re all about this city we call home and flexibility with our work, we thought we would round up some of the best spots in the city to settle in, grab a coffee and get some work done.

Bocca

Situated in the the heart of the city, Bocca is a fab little spot that takes it’s coffee seriously. With info cards on the beans, plenty of open space and generally a great soundtrack playing for the ideal background music jams, we would highly recommend this spot to park up with your laptop and hunker down into some work. They have a small but tasty menu if you find yourself there over lunch time, and if you’re not into their exceptional coffee, they a tea menu that is equally as pleasing to the palette.

The Hoxton

This British hotel franchise is not only an awesome place to stay, but a great place to get productive. With a fantastic restaurant, bar & cafe space, there is plenty of room to curl into a couch or perch at the end of the bar avec device and tick away at whatever needs done.

Coffee Sometime

With that minimalist, natural tone feel it’s hard not to feel relaxed and calm at Coffee Sometime, which is probably the best way to feel when you need to hunker down and get some work done. Their menu starts from 10am, and if you’re not into coffee you can get a killer chai to help you in this arguably zen workspace. Maybe order a granola to double the good vibes even? Who knows it may help with productivity.

De Plantage

De Plantage is actually attached to the Amsterdam Zoo, meaning you can sneak by and take a squiz at the flamingos on your way to productivity! A stunning building with high ceilings, plenty of space and rounded with booths that are perfect for setting up shop with, this is a great little spot to the west of the city to buckle down. A delicious menu to boot alongside a nice courtyard for the warmer months, and you can even treat yourself with a trip to the zoo once you’ve finished up work for the day.

Volkshotel

Especially designed to harbour remote workers, the Volkshotel has plenty of space for them to reside. Alongside being a great open plan situation, they also have rooms and areas to host private meetings, workshops or presentations.

Filmtheater Kriterion

Kriterion is a student run independent theatre, that is just booming with character and charm. They have a great cafe bar out the front that is a cozy place to sit up with keyboard and get cracking, and if you’re lacking for inspiration? You could always duck into the next movie playing.

So now that we’ve summed up our favourite, you should be ready to take laptop in hand, and coffee in the other and place yourself in a new corner of the city each day to get some work done.
