멍멍 [meong-meong]: the sound of a dog barking

이웃집 강아지가 멍멍 짖고 있어.

My neighbor’s dog is barking. (casual)

꿀꿀 [ggul-ggul]: the sound that a pig makes

돼지는 꿀꿀거리며 울어요.

[dwe-ji-neun ggul-ggul-geo-ri-myeo ul-eo-yo]

Pigs oink. (polite)

야옹 [ya-ong]: the sound of a cat meowing

내 고양이는 새벽에 야옹하며 나를 깨워.

[ne go-yang-i-neun se-byeok-e ya-ong-ha-myeo na-reul gge-weo]

My cat is meowing every dawn to wake me up. (casual)

짹짹 [jjek-jjek]: the sound of a bird chirping

새장에서 새 두 마리가 짹짹거리고 있어.

[se-jang-e-seo se du ma-ri-ga jjek-jjek-geo-ri-go it-eo]

Two birds are tweeting in a cage. (casual)

꼬끼오 [ggo-ggi-o]: the sound of a rooster crowing

매일 아침 닭이 꼬끼오 울어요.

[me-il a-chim dak-i ggo-ggi-o ul-eo-yo]

Every morning, a rooster crows cock-a-doodle-doo. (polite)

음메 [eum-me]: the sound of a cow mooing

소는 음메하며 울어요.

[so-neun eum-me-ha-myeo ul-eo-yo]

Cows moo. (polite)

삐약삐약 [bbi-yak-bbi-yak]: the sound of a baby chick chirping

지난 밤 병아리가 삐약삐약 거리는 소리 때문에 잠을 제대로 못 잤어요.

[ji-nan bam byeong-a-ri-ga bbi-yak-bbi-yak geo-ri-neun so-ri dde-mun-e jam-eul je-de-ro mot jat-eo-yo]
