In order to realize our mission: ‘Make every beginning level language learners conversational’, we set out many tasks.

This time, the one of the tasks I’d love to introduce via this article is how we make our users internalize their studies.

Actually our data showed that our users partake in the lessons several times. But, we have no way to know if they really understand and memorized it perfectly after studying it. Also, many users have required summarized notes, so it’s apparent that we need to tackle this problem.

So here comes a new feature — Automated words review -

The initial system is simple enough.

Once you learn something, your words are stored in a database and our program then decides when / what to prompt you to review. The words / grammar concepts for review are based on a spaced repetition system.

Too simple to work properly?

Well, we added an inspector program on top of the algorithm.

The inspector sees when it is the best time to ask you questions, tests how effectively our automated repetitive system is working, and allows us to keep updating our features based on the analysis.

By doing so, we expect that our new feature will work fairly properly so that you don’t need to be stressed out and forgetting your studies.
