Share and Embed Links to Your Storyboard Shows

While interviewing our Storyboard Admins to discuss product updates and features, we learned something interesting about how they use our product. Traditionally, Storyboard Listeners are informed that a new episode is out when they receive a Push Notification to their phone. They may open the main feed, begin streaming an episode, and engage with your content.

The user feedback pointed to another very important avenue for promoting audio comms in a workplace or team: the many newsletters, intranet pages, internal sites, wikis, and other locations that your company many use.

As a result, Storyboard Admins were manually taking steps like describing in an internal newsletter that a new episode has been released and how listeners can open the app and find it. This took time, and it didn’t make it that easy for a listener to find the appropriate episode. It became clear to our team that this should be easier.

Storyboard Universal Links Open Right in the Mobile App or Website

It should be simple for Admins and Listeners to promote Storyboard episodes. That is why we created the new Storyboard Universal Links tool.

These links, which can be copied by Administrators from each Episode Analytics page, can be placed on any internal page or email where you can embed a link. The links will be used to promote specific episodes, like your latest Town Hall or Sales Training.

For the listener experience, this is where Universal Links offer a substantial improvement. The links are “universal” because we will recognize if a user is on their phone (and then open the corresponding iPhone/Android app) or take them to the web version if they are on a desktop. It will automatically bring the user to the appropriate app based on where they clicked the link.

Even better, these links will transfer your listener directly to the correct episode so they can begin listening with minimal friction. Of course, these links still maintain the secure Storyboard environment, as a user will need to be an active and signed in user in order to access your audio content or private podcast.

How Do I Start Using Storyboard Universal Links?

It’s easy. Storyboard Universal Links are available to all Administrators (Pro and Hobby) starting this week.

To copy the link, go to your Podcast Dashboard at TryStoryboard.com. Click on the Episode Stats icon next to one of your recent episodes.

You will see a “Copy Link to Podcast” button where you can grab the Universal Link.

From there, your final step will be embedding that link in any internal resource where you would like to promote your episode. Some of the common examples in our beta testing include email blasts to your listeners or including your podcast content on your LMS or learning software. In turn, our users experienced a 20–30% increase in engagement when promoting their episodes through other channels with our Universal Links.

We hope that you enjoy this new feature, and thank you for using Storyboard. If you would like to get started, you can create a free Storyboard Hobby account for up to 50 listeners today to see how audio can transform your communication strategy.
