If you can tell stories, you can share the way you imagine something. By telling a story, you can shift the beliefs that people hold. By shifting the beliefs, we can make something interesting even if it is nothing specific, to begin with.

Social media is generally full of PR and marketing-speak.

You instantly trust brands that tell a story, but supposedly not everyone can afford to tell a story.

Everyone can.

We value our time the same as you. We prize our time more than yours. And so we will narrate stories that are easy to drift in and out of. They will not become a burden, dead baggage which you cannot bear.
Stories become fluid when they are easy to relate to and possible for the individual to imagine on their own. This way of relating is sometimes referred to as adoption. Why some stories are adopted, and some are not, has something to do with how they are told and not what they themselves are. This format of storytelling becomes the most distinguishing factor in determining whether a story “works” or not.

Audiences will adapt stories only under certain conditions:

If they can be imagined in multiple ways.

If they can be understood to mean/interpreted in different ways.

If they offer characters with a broad spectrum of tendencies and behaviours and are not easy to predict.

Storytellers with some experience in telling stories, in being able to read what audiences want to hear and someway of modulating the tone and format of this narration for the above two to work are needed.

Social media forces you to jostle for attention. There are no dedicated channels for your stories to be transmitted. Your stories have to come across as coherent and consistent through the barrage of other stories that others are telling.

In this scenario, having a social media manager-storyteller who can configure your story in a way that it rises above the din and stands out is undoubtedly a bonus.
