Strafe Esports 2.7 — Strafe Score levels up!
A new rewarding experience
More than two years have passed since we first introduced Strafe’s voting game, Strafe Score, a feature that has been very appreciated by the community — now it’s time take it to the next level! This is the first in a series of updates that will focus on developing this game further.
So what’s new?
Upgraded Point System
+10 for a win, -5 for loss is how we did it for some time. Very simple to understand, but also very skewed to favor users that cast a lot of votes and it certainly didn’t make sense to vote for underdogs! This time around, Strafe Score benefits the bold, with a dynamic point system — meaning more points for underdogs and less points for favorites.
New League Format
One thing’s for sure — it wasn’t easy to fight your way into the Top 100 on the leaderboard for a monthly season. Now we’ve switched things up! Users will be divided up in leagues, representing their true performance and skill. We’re starting off with a warmup season that will dictate your placement in the first season. Seasons is played on a weekly basis, where you’ll be able to ladder up/down the leagues.
New Reward Structure
Get rewarded for your dedication, with more badges and a completely revamped system. Strafe 2.7 includes league badges, custom badges and some secret ones for all you treasure hunters out there!
These new additions needs a place in the app, hence the profile page has received a substantial facelift.
Dark Theme for Android
Dark theme, night mode, “don’t-blind-me-when-the-sun-is-down”-mode. Call it what you want, but it’s (finally!) here for all you light-sensitive vampires lurking in the darkness! No date is set for a release on iOS, but it’s in the works.
Release Schedule
We’re starting off with a 7-day rollout today, the 17th of January on both iOS and Android. This means that the app will gradually be available to more and more users for each day, so make sure to have a look out in the App Store and Play Store these coming days!
Although main focus will be on Strafe Score these next updates, we’re not forgetting about the other parts of the app. We’re determined to add more features, esports titles, increase tournament/league coverage and fix existing issues going forward.
