Eat whatever you want, and if anyone tries to lecture you about your weight, eat them too. — Anonymous

Are you absolutely kidding me? How on earth do you expect to see results from your new diet when you’re reading a random article online instead of taking control of your own cooking? Instead of moping around and blaming your lack of progress on some vague concept of gut flora, why don’t you roll up your sleeves and start cooking a real meal for once?

Let me do you a favor and provide you with a recipe that might just kickstart your progress, if you can muster up the courage to actually make it.

Here’s a recipe for a Grilled Salmon Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette:

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper, then grill for 4–5 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and parsley.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, honey, and garlic to make the vinaigrette.
  5. Drizzle the vinaigrette over the salad and toss to combine.
  6. Divide the salad onto serving plates and top each with a grilled salmon fillet.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade, nutritious meal.

Wine Pairing: Pair this delightful and healthy dish with a crisp and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc from Cloudy Bay in New Zealand. The bright acidity and citrus notes of the wine will complement the flavors of the salad beautifully.

Now, get off your backside and start cooking. It’s time to take control of your diet and stop looking for excuses. If you want to see results, it’s going to take effort and commitment. No more whining — get cooking!

Bon Appétit

If you’re finding that your latest “miracle diet” is about as effective as a chocolate teapot, it’s time to face reality. Perhaps it’s not the diet that’s the issue, but rather the lack of commitment and discipline on your part. Before you come crying to me about your diet woes, take a good, hard look in the mirror and ask yourself if you’re actually following the plan. Tread carefully before pointing the finger elsewhere.
