One of the greatest pleasures of leading the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, is the opportunity to meet supporters who believe passionately in our community and our cause of conservation. One of those truly unique and profoundly environmentally conscious supporters is Eva Sugden Gomez.

Mrs. Sugden-Gomez has been named the 2016 Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Everglades Chapter.

Since moving to Naples in 1996, she has had a strong involvement with educational advancement and environmental preservation. In fact, in the picture above, you can see Ms. Gomez standing with me at the ribbon cutting for her namesake building here at the Nature Center — the Eva Sugden Gomez Environmental Planning Center and Sustainability Courtyard.

The Conservancy is immensely proud to be affiliated with Eva and her family who have given back so much to our community. From the Sugden School of Hospitality at FGCU, to the Sugden Community Center to parks and a wide variety of other philanthropic endeavors, we hope you will join us in congratulating Ms. Gomez for this outstanding achievement.

She will be honored by the AFP’s Everglades Chapter during its National Philanthropy Day celebration on November 10.
