Last week I had the pleasure of being able to attend Entrust’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit. During the summit, Entrust talked about their goals of increasing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in their company and how they plan on achieving that. We also heard a keynote from the amazing team at Strategio and how they are increasing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Tech. Here are some of the key points I took away from the summit.

More Inclusion = More Innovation

“Improvements in diversity predict an increase in innovative efficiency.”

This is due to all the different backgrounds of the diverse team. With a diverse team comes many different perspectives when it comes to problem-solving and coming up with new ideas. When taking into consideration all the different perspectives everyone brings to the team, there is no doubt that it will lead to more innovation.

More Diversity = More $$$

“Companies ranking in the top quartile of diversity are 33% more likely to financially outperform their industry peers. Those on the lower quartile of diversity are 25% more likely to financially underperform their industry peers.”

This statistic caught my eye. As someone who has an interest in business, it was quite eye-opening to see how much of a difference a diverse team can make in a business. Based on that statistic, that is a 58% financial performance gap between the most and the least diverse companies. Crazy!

“Talent Creation as a Service”

For me, I would say the highlight of the summit was the keynote from Strategio. The team did a great job telling their personal stories and describing Strategio’s mission of increasing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Tech and how they are achieving that through what they call — Talent Creation as a Service. As one of the first technologists at Strategio, there is no doubt in my mind that they are going to be making a tremendous impact in the world of Tech and I am grateful to be a part of their journey.
