Describe yourself in 3 words.

Empathetic — Being able to place yourself in someone else’s shoes and see their perspective, in my opinion, leads to better conversations and mutual understanding in both work and personal relationships. I feel this is a strength of mine that continuously try to develop.

Resilient — Life will have challenges and mountains to climb where the feeling of wanting to give up will seem like the best choice. This has been the case both personally and professionally, but pushing through despite imposter syndrome or feelings of inadequacy is a superpower that I have been able to exercise.

Curious — I like learning about how things work and new cultures or languages that can open up new ways of thinking and finding solutions to problems.

Why did you join Strategio’s Simulator?

The mission of Strategio is what mainly piqued my interest. Being an underrepresented person wanting to break into the tech industry, I sincerely appreciated the diversity and inclusion initiatives Strategio is passionate about. After meeting the staff, partnering with Strategio seemed like a great decision.

What were you doing before you joined Strategio?

Before Strategio, I was in customer service and sales roles with various insurance and rental car companies.

What are you most excited about this year?

I am most excited to start my first role as a technologist. Leading up to this role, there were many hours, early mornings, and some late nights committed
to learn how to code; I am excited to finally put it all to use and bring value to my new organization.

What made you decide to get into tech?

My curiosity about technology was the main reason. I wanted to become more technical, and I find my curiosity from using different social media platforms and wondering how they worked along with technology fascinating. So I decided to embark on changing careers.

What do you like to do during your spare time?

Spend time with family and friends while enjoying everything South Florida offers.

What is your favorite cultural value at Strategio?

“Fail Fast and Learn” because oftentimes, we forget that this is the best way to truly grow and learn. We shy away from doing things that we may fail at
because, in general, we’re taught that failing means you’re a failure or that the failure is final. That doesn’t have to be the case, and choosing to persevere after momentarily failing is how to get better.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

The Maldives or Dubai.

What’s your favorite restaurant?

Anything with a Caribbean flavor, but I do fancy Chef Creole down in Miami, FL.
