Meet Strategio Technologist: Jessica Lu
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Persistent — I have learned so far that growth is not linear. I think it’s important to learn what I can from a situation and use it to keep moving.
Open-minded — I love working with others because it creates an awesome learning environment. Everyone comes from different experiences, and one of my favorite things is to learn more about them.
Reliable — I will always do my best to come through on my word and provide the best support possible to my team.
Why did you join Strategio’s Simulator?
I was drawn to Strategio’s Simulator because it sounded like a dream come true! Getting hands-on experience and building my knowledge in different sectors that I haven’t been able to before sounded absolutely incredible!
What were you doing before you joined Strategio?
I am a recent college graduate from Cornell University in Computer Science. The interests that I was able to explore and get more experience in were Computer Graphics as well as Computational Linguistics.
What are you most excited about this year?
The thing I am most excited about this year is entering the tech industry with Strategio and gaining experience and knowledge in all the industry tools that the Simulator explores.
What made you decide to get into tech?
My first introduction to tech was actually in high school. A friend had randomly asked me if I was interested in trying out a Computer Science course, and I said, “why not?” I had no idea at the time that such a small decision would make me fall in love with the world of Computer Science and lead me to where I am today.
What do you like to do during your spare time?
I adore books. The library was my second home growing up. I’m always open to new recommendations, but I’m enjoying re-reading the Harry Potter series since I was just gifted the pop-up (!!) version of the first novel. Other than that, I also love to cook and bake! My current goal is to make good focaccia bread, although… that might take me at least a couple more tries.
What is your favorite cultural value at Strategio?
One of the things I love about Strategio is the amazing set of cultural values highlighted within the company. My favorite one would have to be “Be Better.” I believe being willing to constantly improve oneself is essential, especially in an industry as innovative as tech.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
There are so many countries that I would love to visit in the future! However, as a massive Harry Potter fan, I first need to go to London to visit the Warner Bros. Studio and the Kings Cross Station for the mandatory 9-3/4 picture.
What’s your favorite restaurant?
I am an absolute foodie, so I love to try anything at least once. Fun fact! Growing up, I was allergic to seafood, so only in recent years have I discovered the wonders of poké! Thus, I really have to shout out to Pokelava for being the first place to introduce the dish to me.
