Spectator Mode opens up brand new possibilities for draft analysis

Three months ago, the STRATZ+ Draft Assistant went live, giving Dota players the chance to prepare for each match with an A.I. in their corner for the first time. Today, we release an entirely new way to use STRATZ+, and one of our most requested features — Spectator Mode!

Spectator Mode in STRATZ+ uses Game State Integration (GSI) to collect data about every action taken in the draft, using it to update STRATZ+ in real time with the results. Spectator Mode is on by default for all users of version 0.8.7 (latest), and can be turned off in your settings, though we believe that any impact on performance is utterly negligible.

For this release, we’re GSI can be used to spectate Captain’s Mode matches only, which covers just about all professional league matches. The foundation has been established to add support for all other game modes, so you can expect comprehensive support for Spectator Mode in the future.

Another great new addition in 0.8.7 is localization for Spanish and Swedish! These were largely completed weeks ago, but coincided with some localization fixes that needed to be made before going out in a stable release. Big shout outs to Metabolic in Discord for supplying the Spanish translations, and Stuff in Discord for the Swedish translations! 💪😍

Last week, we partnered with the Amateur Team Dota League (ATDL) as an official sponsor of their upcoming ATDL SEAson 6 league, where they’ll be making use of the new STRATZ+ Spectator Mode live on-stream. We can’t wait to witness the impact STRATZ+ has on the casting and analysis experiences for up and coming Dota 2 talent!

On the STRATZ.com front, Blukai and Carceri spent a large portion of this week digging through a collection of bug reports that had been accruing dust these past weeks and months, resulting in a significant bug-release update that we pushed earlier this evening.

These bugs span a significant portion of STRATZ.com, including fixes across the player, guilds, hero, and leaderboard pages, alongside fixes to the dashboard, and some browser-specific bugs. For those of you who like to stay in the loop (presumably all of you 😅), we’ve been looking into firing up our release notes pages again, so you can stay in the loop with all the changes happening each week 👍.

This coming week, we’ll work through the majority of remaining known bugs across the STRATZ experience, and will be making several sweeping design updates for content that is spread all across STRATZ.com. Loading up the site next Friday is going to be a really exciting moment, where a great many relatively small-but-impactful changes will be immediately evident, no matter where you navigate.

Last but not least, following the trademarking of the STRATZ logo last November, we’ve now officially secured the trademark for the name STRATZ in the United States! This is another great step in the growth of our brand, demonstrating our commitment to establishing a trusted presence in the esports analytics market.
