Get to know Nicholas
This is Nicholas. He is part owner and our director of all things operational here at Stream Monkey. You might have met him already, since he spends a lot of his time around here talking to all of you on the phone (fun fact: he’s often zooming around on a hover board at the same time). He’s the guy to talk to about how to hook up your multisite locations, or when you’re trying to decide which encoder you want. He’s got a lot of other fun interests too (I actually had a really hard time narrowing down his answers into one blog post), so we wanted to be sure you had a chance to get to know him better. Enjoy!
• What is something you like to do in your free time? I love birds! My wife and I will spend free time going to various locations around Florida just to identify different kinds of birds. I swear I’m still in my 30s, even though I don’t act like it sometimes.
• Favorite show to binge watch on Netflix? I love Netflix, but my current favorite show I watch on Hulu. Fargo. So good.
• Where did you grow up? Almost heaven ♫ West Virginia ♫ Blue Ridge Mountains ♫ Shenandoah River… Yes, I actually grew up in the Shenandoah Valley, WV, right off the river.
• Have you ever driven/piloted anything other than a car or light truck?Nothing larger. My grandfather had this really elaborate HO scale train table that he designed in his basement. We would spend hours navigating these trains around the tracks, in/out of turn tables, etc.
•What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time? I am a complete Geek. I love tabletop war games. I spend free time painting miniature models and playing competitive games. Currently I’m obsessed with Warhammer, but my wife does a good job keeping me from spending too much. Thanks, Jamie!
• At which store would you like to max out your credit card? No store! I’d max out on traveling to see what crazy adventures I can take me and my family on.
• What do you do on Saturdays? I usually go to Home Depot and build something with my daughter and then we spend hours playing Minecraft together.
• What’s the strangest talent you have? I can roll my belly, both ways, like a Hawaiian belly dancer.
• If you were dictator of a small island nation, what crazy dictator stuff would you do? I wouldn’t be a good dictator. I’d set everyone free and probably start some socialist system where we divide the island up evenly and trade things instead of use currency.
• What are some small things that make your day better? Coffee, tacos, my wife, kid, Stream Monkey colleagues and users! (not necessarily in that order…)
