Qweerty Gamers is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that champions the inclusion & visibility of LGBTQIA+ representation in the gaming community.
Qweerty Gamers provides a productive platform for people to connect & learn from each other while playing video games. Our platform provides unique perspectives of LGBTQIA+ Gamers, microgrants for content creators & game developers with a passion for more diversity in video games, & a medium for individuals and creators to share their experiences, accomplishments, & expertise.

Contributions go towards the Victoria Kennedy Microgrant, which proudly supports content creators & game developers that strive to make the gaming community more inclusive. The Qweerty Gamers Victoria Kennedy Microgrant Program helps ease financial obstacles like software & hardware overhead, licensing fees, & more.

Recipient(s) are featured on the Qweerty Gamers website & social media pages & will be invited to a private recipient Discord channel within the Qweerty Gamers server. Recipients can also expect a modest amount of funds & can expect to receive support when available from our staff.

Qweerty’s first recipient, Drag Her!, is a fighting game that is equal parts “stupid & sickening”. They launched their successful Kickstarter & received a grant from the IDGA, & recently received a $100,000 grant from AT&T Games. Fighting Chance Games (the developer of Drag Her!) appreciates Qweerty for supporting Drag Her! from the very beginning & cannot thank us enough.

CarrietheOne, another microgrant recipient, is a drag queen & content creator based in Maine, a proud member of Team Stream Queens, and a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion practitioner in higher education by day. A Twitch streamer since 2020, her community has raised over $10,000 for charities like MaineTransNet, Transgender Law Center, and the LGBTQ Freedom Fund, and they’re just getting started. If you’re into horror games, having tough conversations on important issues, or bearded beauties with wonky eyebrows, there’s a place for you in her community.

One of Qweerty’s latest recipients, Nicholai A. Melamed, is one of three developers creating The Inverted Spire, a queer dark fantasy game about goblin mages dungeon-crawling to redemption. Melamed is a writer, illustrator & occasional coder on numerous creative projects. His work is an ongoing exploration of resilience at the crossroads of queer, trans identity & ethnoreligious diaspora experience.

Contributions also support LGBTQIA+ Community Nights. Every Thursday at 7 PM PT, community members meet online to play video games together. During this time, players learn about Qweerty Gamers’ programs & platforms. Some community members who cannot play the selected game of the month due to financial hardship are eligible to apply for limited copies of the game. Community Nights are akin to LGBT Centers and their Bingo Nights.

Support is also provided to Qweerty Gamers Ambassadors, who create & maintain thriving & productive environments for thousands of members & fundraise for other charitable causes. To date, collectively, our ambassadors have raised $6,000 for nonprofits like The Stonewall Community Foundation, The Trevor Project, and the BC SPCA.
