2020 was a year that shook up the way that we do things. The way we shop for groceries, the way we interact with our family, and the way that we give back. Stream for a Cause (SfaC) recognized this and launched their nonprofit in July of 2020 and has been growing ever since. With a mission to reinvent the way we give, Stream for a Cause has been helping content creators of all sizes to reimagine what their charity streams can look like. The SfaC staff have been working side by side with hundreds of volunteer streamers to create one-of-a-kind charity streaming events. Their efforts have already raised thousands of dollars to support small, community-based nonprofits doing life-changing work every day. The nonprofits that Stream for a Cause works with are well researched, thoughtful, and committed to making a difference in their communities, ensuring dollars raised by SfaC are used to their highest potential. By selecting organizations and missions important to their volunteers, Stream for a Cause is able to keep a finger on the pulse of what matters to those in the gaming community. Funding from SfaC is given to a wide array of causes; from creating handmade prosthetic alternatives for women after mastectomies to funding family counseling for gender questioning youth, Stream for a Cause and their volunteer streamers are shaking up the charity streaming game.

Stream for a Cause shows no signs of slowing down. In less than a year, SfaC has been able to provide funding to dozens of unique charities around the world, growing more and more every day. Stream for a Cause is out to prove the importance of teamwork, that we are capable of doing more as a group than we ever could alone. Gofef, one of the volunteer streamers and leader of The Pride Streamers, a community led streamer group: “Stream for a Cause has empowered our community to gather together and truly leverage their platforms to support local nonprofits. With the support of SfaC we have truly been able to live by the ‘no stream too small’ mentality and have given back to our local communities across the globe. Even as small streamers and a small community, SfaC has allowed each streamer to truly feel like the star of the show and has encouraged them to do more than we ever thought possible! ‘’ Through the power of the nonprofit’s growing numbers, the Stream for a Cause community is able to give significant and transformational gifts to smaller nonprofits that will benefit from it the most, while helping to encourage the growth and contribution of all streamers.

Getting Involved

Streamers interested in volunteering with Stream for a Cause can help out in two ways; First, a streamer can register and become a charity streaming volunteer, receiving all the one-on-one help they need to plan their charity stream, while earning rewards through their Streamer Incentive Program. Alternatively, streamers can also simply create a campaign directly to support SfaC through Streamlabs Charity to support their summer campaign at any time. For those wishing to be more involved, they can do so by visiting the Stream for a Cause website and work alongside the SfaC staff to create unique and engaging charity streams. Their staff will guide volunteers through the entire process, helping to create a charity stream tailored to the volunteer’s community. They will even assist in creating the Streamlabs Fundraiser campaign, making sure that everything is working properly before the charity event. Stream for a Cause believes charity streams should be fun, rather than a logistical nightmare, and works alongside each creator to make sure their unique charity stream will focus on entertainment and community.

In addition, streamers who sign up to work with Stream for a Cause are automatically enrolled in their unique incentive program. SfaC knows that planning a charity stream well can be a lot of work, so they set aside a portion of their budget to reinvest in their volunteer creators. Streamers can earn computer upgrades, games, giveaways, whatever they need to help their channel thrive because as volunteers grow, so does Stream for a Cause’s ability to invest in life-changing organizations. Be part of this rapidly growing charity that believes that content creators have the power to change the world.
