We are The Foundation for the Prevention of Violence, and we believe that we can stop violence with behavioral science.
As a society, we generally address violence in one way: by reacting to it. We follow it on the news, discuss it at work, and listen to endless debates about policy — until the next incident occurs and the cycle starts over again.
But there’s only one way to actually stop the cycle — we must prevent the violent behaviors that start it.
Fortunately, this is not as impossible as it sounds. The Foundation for the Prevention of Violence (FPV) worked with retired F.B.I. profiler Greg Cooper to create programs, protocols, and assessments designed to increase school safety, reinforce workplace security, and teach both communities and individuals how to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.
With these programs, we can do more than just react to violence — we can prevent it from happening in the first place.

Help support the Foundation for the Prevention of Violence by starting a fundraiser today!

We have three main programs:

Deva School Security — Violence in schools is increasing, and in reaction, schools across the nation are increasing security measures. But it’s not enough to simply defend against violence, we need to prevent it. Our security program is a 360 degree evaluation that comes with specialized training for staff, drills, and the Cooper Krug Risk Assessment.

Mage Fire Gaming — This is a tabletop gaming therapy program where we address deviant behaviors found by our risk assessment. Tabletop Gaming creates an environment that fosters team building, critical thinking, empathetic exercises, and communication skills.

Self-Defense Training — Our most important and prolific program, we teach people how to keep themselves safe using their most powerful weapon, their intelligence. Using criminology, profiling, victimology, the four types of sexual predators and tips and tricks of self-defense is just the first part of our class. The second is physical self-defense. This class is tailored to not only accommodate different ages, but also LGBTQA+ community, adolescence (pedophiles and grooming), for men (Be An Ally) and survivors (a class tailored for survivors of sexual assault and rape).

We are a 501c3, and we are very transparent where any money goes. We use money to run our website and pay for adobe, we use funds to rent spaces to teach entire communities, and to pay for gas. And we use a sizable chunk when we run our FanX Fundraiser in September. We want to raise more awareness and funds to be able to rent/build a location where people can come to us for free classes. We want to be able to professionally produce videos that break down what we teach and be able to pay to push it on social media to reach as many people as possible. Lastly we pay ourselves. Not a whole lot, but we love what we do so we muddle through. A single donation can keep our website going, pay for a class, or even pay for self-defense tools for survivors. We are tremendously humbled by donations and are extremely grateful and thankful for Streamlabs and their spotlight on us.
